Coonara welcomes new manager

Coonara Community House is excited to welcome Sandra Romero as the new manager this year as she brings a wealth of knowledge as an experienced business operations manager with qualifications in business, accounting and adult education.

Coonara is also a nationally recognised training organisation and Sandra has plans to further extend opportunities, courses and new skill sets for the community in many areas from early childhood to community development. Adult learning in such an inclusive, warm and welcoming environment is what Coonara is renowned for and she looks forward to opening the door to many life-long experiences.

Sandra enjoys being an active volunteer in the Latin American community for social and welfare assistance for new and established families, She is well travelled and multi-lingual. This aligns with Coonara’s mission to open it’s arms wide to the multicultural community and encourages the many wonderful benefits that come with such diversity.

Sandra’s passion for people, capacity-building, health promotion and continuous improvement is a welcome addition to the dedicated team at Coonara.

Together they will focus on re-emerging stronger than ever after what has been a tough year for the local community, offering a range of pre-accredited and accredited courses and a vast range of recreational classes and workshops such as bee club, community shed, coding and gaming for teens, meditation, belly dancing, IT assistance, community lunch, art and crafts and lots more.

For over 40 years Coonara has been part of a familiar, safe and empowering community, a place that families and individuals can rely on. Sandra already feels completely at home and looks forward to exploring new and exciting ways to engage in community participation.

Sandra and her team at Coonara look forward to building strong relationships within the community and further strengthening a sense of belonging for all by creating a space that brings social change in the lives of many.
