Market chairman John Cascone said the mixture of good weather and exciting stalls made the market a success.
“We had the right recipe for success, and feedback from stallholders and marketgoers was that the day was a hit with everyone,” he said.
“The town was also extra busy, so traders who have supported our efforts also received a bonus.
“The market really put Gembrook on the map.”
The focus of the market was on sustainability.
No plastic bags were used by stallholders, with many selling items crafted from recycled and organic materials.
The day was such a success that Mr Cascone is anticipating a bigger market late September.
“With around 50 stalls at our first market and another 20 stallholders wanting to join us in September we surpassed our expectations,” he said.
“The day was a winwin for everyone.”
The Gembrook Market will return on Sunday, 25 September, near Puffing Billy Station, Gembrook, from 9am to 3pm.
