THE Sherbrooke Rangers Junior Soccer Club held its presentation day on the weekend concluding a very successful season for the club.
Presentations were made not only to the players, but also as recognition for the tireless efforts of support volunteers including coaches, team managers and other club personnel.
The U10 Bears, U12 Sharks and Men’s Forest all finished on top of their ladder.
Meanwhile, the U12 Laser girls finished on top of their ladder.
The sub-junior coaches’ award went to Leo Stauber, coach of the U10 Bears and the juniors coaching award was presented to Mick Terry, coach of the U18 Rangers.
The winner of the club’s Rose Lee Award this year was Nikki Ceeney. It was presented to her by Gembrook MP Tammy Labato.
The award is presented to a player in the junior ranks (U11’s – U18’s). The player need not be best on the field or one who has scored the most goals nor tackled the hardest but one who is willing to help his or her fellow players, showing commitment to the team and club.
The award was dedicated in 2000 in the memory of Rose Lee and her contribution to the club.
Rose Lee was the mother of two players at Sherbrooke Rangers Junior Soccer Club and she passed away in January 2000 after a short battle with cancer.
Rose was a coach and committee member at the club. She represented what the club stands for – a friendly willing person who was not afraid to get involved.
She saw what needed to be done and did it, contributing to the running of the club helping to ensure its long-term viability.
