GAME, set, and match will be three sought after words at the Third Mountain Tennis Challenge next week.
Players from as far away as Warragul and Reservoir are coming to the Belgrave Tennis Club to take up the challenge, which was recently included in Tennis Victoria’s official calendar.
The first weekend of play in the three-round tournament is Saturday, 7 and Sunday, 8 October. Entries will be accepted up to tomorrow evening, 4 October.
The tournament committee is hoping for plenty of entries from other local tennis clubs, especially as the current titleholders, Team Cubit, will be unable to compete, owing to the recent death of one of its member, Neil Cornell.
The Mountain Tennis Challenge is organised on a “fast tennis” principle, with teams of three players competing for cash prizes in three sets over three weeks – starting at 3pm on each day of play.
Teams can elect to play on either Saturdays or Sundays.
