JEFFRY Farman is excited about working with Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges tourism, and food and wine operators.
He is stepping into the role of chairman for the newly formed Yarra Ranges Regional Marketing board.
The board was formed in June following a merger between Destination Yarra Valley Dandenong Ranges and Yarra Valley Brand to promote tourism, wine, food and agribusiness.
Rob Hauser, interim chairman, said Mr Farman was chosen for the position because he matched the selection criteria perfectly.
“We sought people with proven successful board or senior management experience and a commitment to the Yarra Ranges region, and Mr Farman has this and more,” he said.
Mr Farman grew up in the region and said he has always regarded it as a special area.
He said the board now has the tools and resources to build something significant for the marketing of the region that will bring it the prominence it deserves.
Mr Farman said the board will now work on ensuring that marketing of the region is innovative and successful for all businesses.
The board is also inviting all the food, wine, tourism and agribusiness to contribute their ideas and views on marketing the region.
“The next few years are going to be very exciting,” he said.
“The processes are now in place to harness all of the resources of the region to work together for one goal: to make this a special must visit destination for Victorian, interstate and overseas visitors.”
