
THE heart pumping action of the Dandenong Ranges Junior Football League grand final on the weekend saw Emerald’s under 13s fly the flag against Healesville.
After finishing on top of the ladder, the under 13s Emerald Bombers ran out a 19point victory over Healesville.
A nervous start saw the scores tied at quartertime, and both teams continuing to play hard in the second term.
Rejuvenated after the halftime break the Bombers took control of the match, taking a fivegoal lead.
But in the final term Healesville fought back, kicking a couple of late goals.
The final score was Emerald 7.3.45 to Healesville 4.3.22.
In other games UpweyTecoma scored a thrilling threepoint victory over Wandin in the under 11s grand final.
This victory kept the team’s unbeaten record intact. The final score was UpweyTecoma 2.3.15 to Wandin 2.0.12.
A show of teamwork and skills was a highlight of the under 12s grand final, with GembrookCockatoo coming out on top of Mt Evelyn by 17 points.
The final score was GembrookCockatoo 7.6.48 to Mt Evelyn 4.7.31.
UpweyTecoma finished the day on a high, with the second of its grand final teams, the under 16s, also coming out as 2005 premiers.
In a tight game UpweyTecoma squeezed home with a 12point win against Monbulk.
The game was a thrilling contest, with the match proving to be anyone’s game until the final siren.
The final score was UpweyTecoma 10.7.67 to Monbulk 9.1.55.
