NORTH Melbourne Kangaroos Football Club headed for the Hills for a boot camp to kick start their pre-season training schedule.
The team spent three days at the Log Cabin Ranch in Monbulk where they were recently subjected to a rigorous boot camp.
They were trained by Craig Walsh and his team from IDQ, an organisation that specialises in corporate motivational training.
Garry Haley of the Log Cabin Ranch said the IDQ team took the Kangaroos through a hard training camp that would build their strength and test endurance.
Donald McDonald, Kangaroos general manager of football operations, said the club had never used the Monbulk retreat as a training camp before, but chose to use it this year because of the quality training environment it provided.
Mr McDonald said the retreat is a hidden treasure especially because it is only an hour from Melbourne’s city centre.
He said the camp both physically and mentally challenged the players with a variety of tough situations including hill climbs, push-ups and sit ups.
“This camp was the end of our first pre-season block of training and the team’s progress has been exciting,” McDonald said.
