TROPICAL weather descended at the Emerald Golf Club on Saturday as players had to contend with the humidity, heat and personal ineptitude.
The course rating was set at 67 after the day’s hostilities.
Paul Thomas (22), after playing a very solid round with few mistakes took out the day’s honours when he finished with +5. Steve Miller, who also came in with +5, was beaten on a countback and faces the same fate as Thomas when Graeme Sickle, the handicapper, reviews their rounds. Thomas walked away with the C Grade gong as well.
Daniel Hunt mastered all other B Graders, when he came in with +3 to further his efforts to trim his handicap from 17.
Kennith Hill, proved there is still class left in him when he came in with a +2 from his 13 handicap to laud it over all other A Grade aspirants.
Graeme Lawler, Ben Balfour and Pete Sumsion all scored +2 while Peter Jones and Greg Haymes finished at +1.
Nearest the pins were won by Sumsion on the 10th, Peter Clowes the 12th, Dennis Fuller the 13th and Peter Jones walked away with the cash for the pro pin on the 18th.
