Cards for change

THE Shire of Yarra Ranges is calling for ideas on how to attack climate change.
The council last week launched post cards, which outline a number of talks and workshops on climate change.
The council has also posted the question ‘how are we going to adapt to climate change?’ on its learning website at www.yarrarangeslearning.net.au.
People across the shire are being urged to log on to the website and highlight their ideas on climate change.
Over the next six months there will be a number of activities across the hills including a talk on sustainable living on Friday, 16 February at the Mt Evelyn Library.
A sustainable gardening and frog friendly garden workshop will be held at Belgrave South on Sunday, 18 March and a town and gown lecture on climate change will be held in Montrose on Thursday, 31 May.
Mayor Tim Heenan said the community question is part of the shire’s efforts to help reduce its environmental impact by sharing ideas and learning together.
“We want to lead the way in our community by taking steps to protect and enhance the natural environment,” he said. “We also want to help get community discussion centred around climate change so we can work together to protect our environment for the benefit of all.”
