Vision goes on show

KNOX City Council has set its eyes firmly on the future, drawing upon extensive community consultation to present its Vision 2025 report.
The guiding document for Knox was formally adopted at the first council meeting of the year on 23 January.
Director of corporate development Mick Jaensch reported that detailed questionnaires were disseminated at local shopping centres, as well as mail-outs being sent to 250 business and 1500 residents within the municipality.
Mayor Jim Penna said that it was important that the consultation process went beyond a mandatory “tick the box approach.”
“Involving the community in the process for developing this document has been essential in developing a vision that reflects the needs and aspirations of the community.”
In Mr Jaensch’s presentation to his colleagues, he noted that the crucial stage of the process had yet begun.
“This is the start of a journey,” he implored, “not the end of a journey.”
The Vision 2025 document is currently available on the Knox City Council website and will soon be distributed to residents by mail.
