Kennels avoid the barking madness

BARKING dogs can be a familiar problem in urban and outer urban areas — especially when the owner is not in attendance.
Even dedicated dog lovers soon tire of listening to a recurring chorus from a neighbour’s dog.
But it doesn’t have to be a problem, according to Andrew and Jacqueline Alexander, managers of Lyndon Grange Kennels at Silvan.
“As a rule, dogs only bark for a reason,” said Andrew “and if someone with experience is on hand to deal with the situation, the dog can relax — and so can the neighbours!
“When owners go away, it’s really not enough to get a friend to call in and ‘feed the dog’.
“Quite apart from the potential for problem barking, the dog also doesn’t have the benefit of proper supervision,” he said.
“A good solution can be to get family or a trusted friend to stay in the house, especially if they are ‘dog-minded’.
“A good boarding kennel is also an option where all a dog’s needs, exercise and healthcare, will be met,” Andrew said.
Andrew and Jacqueline invite prospective clients to get in touch to discuss their needs — and inspection is welcome by appointment.

“Dogs like to be consulted about these decisions!” says Andrew.
