Amazing adventure set to open

By Tania Martin
VISITORS can now experience an amazing adventure at SkyHigh Mt Dandenong.
A wonderland of gardens, a maze and top of the city views are just a taste of what visitors can expect.
A maze and gatehouse are the newest additions to Skyhigh and will be officially opened tomorrow (Wednesday).
The maze is a part of the $4 million makeover of SkyHigh Mt Dandenong, which started in February 2004.
Owner John Connellan refurbished the well-known SkyHigh restaurant and has since worked to keep the surrounding gardens in great shape.
The maze and gatehouse is the next step in Mr Connellan’s vision for the area.
“This (the maze) has always been a critical part of my vision,” he said.
Mr Connellan said the view could only hold visitors’ attention for a short period of time.
He said it was important to find ways to keep visitors at SkyHigh longer.
“I thought this (the maze) would be a good way to further develop the gardens.”
Mr Connellan said people who take the maze adventure would receive a passport, which has four squares on it that symbolises each checkpoint in the maze.
At each checkpoint, people will find a machine that will stamp their passport.
On the other side of the passport is a Maze Master certificate, which will be signed and stamped once the person has finished the maze adventure.
Mr Connellan said once people have finished they can also stand up on the viewing platform to see the whole maze from above.
He said the ultimate goal is to attract new people and tourists to the Dandenong Ranges.
Mr Connellan believes the maze will help boost tourism as well providing a great family day out.
He said visitors can come to SkyHigh, take in the views and have a nice lunch at the bistro before strolling through the gardens or taking up the maze challenge.
SkyHigh is providing free entry to the maze tomorrow to help celebrate its opening.
The maze adventure usually costs $6 for children and seniors, $8 for adults and $25 for a family pass.
People can experience the wonders of SkyHigh at 26 Observatory Road, Mt Dandenong.
