Thoughtless vandals

ARE all the thoughtless vandals remotely aware of the danger they have put drivers in by destroying the white safety markers with red reflectors, between McBride Street and Lisheen Road, where there has been at least two fatal accidents.
How would they feel if an accident occurred because of thoughtless behaviour?
Silly me, that would be crediting them with brains.

THE Gembrook Market Committee thanks its many supporters for the encouragement and good wishes that resulted in the successful launch of our new market on 28 August.
Funding support from the Cardinia Shire Council and State Government Regional Development Program ensured a solid foundation on which to build the market.
Editorial coverage from the Pakenham Gazette, Ranges Trader Mail and other media raised awareness of the new monthly event and attracted visitors to Gembrook who might otherwise never have come to the area.
Local businesses sponsored and supported our promotional campaign, and Gembrook residents came forward offering their hands, hearts and minds to ensure our communitydriven event was a success.
Now Gembrook is back on the map again welcoming visitors on the fourth Sunday of the month, and encouraging them to return at other times to enjoy the scenic countryside our small but busy community enjoys everyday.
We invite all your readers to come again to Puffing Billy Station Gembrook on Sunday, 25 September.
John Cascone
Chairman
Gembrook Market Committee

II’S not often I get a good laugh out of our daily paper, but I nearon choked with tears to read pet owners of both cats and dogs will be forced to microchip them or face a $500 fine.
Just as well I live under the Shire of Yarra Ranges. Three years in Launching Place, 10 years in Mt Evelyn, enough phone complaints to make Telstra rich, and to date, not only have we never seen a dog catcher we wouldn’t even know what one looked like.
The dogs and cats will roam free and you’ll still take my rates. But they do have a classic comeback.
Find where they live and we’ll do something.
Okay, I’ll get up at 4am with my torch while my rubbish bin is being torn to prices.
As Homer Simpson would say, “Doh”.
