Green for a change

COMBATING climate change will be a top election issue for Greens candidate for Casey in the up-coming Federal election.
Salore Craig was last week elected to run as the Greens candidate for the seat of Casey and says she hopes to address some of the bigger issues, such as climate change, that people are facing on a day to day basis.
“This is an extremely important election in terms of Australia’s future and I am very proud to be representing the only party that has genuine long-term solutions to address the challenges we face as a nation,” she said.
Ms Craig of East Ringwood has given up her job as a receptionist to focus on her election campaign.
She has always had an interest in politics and has a bachelor of politics and sociology.
But she said it was her concerns about the future of the planet and climate change that has led her to run for Parliament.
Ms Craig said she chose to represent the Greens party because neither Labor nor the Liberals have the courage to make the decisions necessary to tackle climate change. “The coalition will not commit to carbon emission reduction targets and Labor’s targets are a token gesture with no real substance,” she said.
Ms Craig said the Greens were the only party with the knowledge, foresight and ability to initiate the changes that are needed where climate change is concerned. She will not only be campaigning for climate change but for better public transport, water issues and is also against the expansion of the Montrose Quarry.
