FOR Samuel, Benjamin and Phoebe Henson, the MS Readathon was a great excuse to bury their heads in a good book.
These Mt Evelyn children spent hours reading books, magazines, and newspapers in June to help raise money for Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
Parents Michael and Dianne said all three children didn’t want to miss out on the MS Readathon this year.
“They really enjoy reading and we enjoy seeing the children entertain themselves with books,” Mrs Henson said.
Samuel led the way, reading more than 24 books, while Benjamin followed close behind with 16 books and Phoebe read 10.
The Henson children said it was great to be able to read and support the MS foundation at the same time.
But they were not the only ones raising money for MS, with another 263 children in the ranges district taking up the readathon challenge.
All funds raised from the readathon will help provide essential support services for Australians living with MS and will assist in research for a cure.
MS is the one of the most common diseases that affects the central nervous system in young adult Australians.
The disease interferes with the brain’s ability to control functions such as seeing, walking and talking and there is still no known cause or cure for it.
