Risky business
POLICE are seeking witnesses to numerous grassfires that have been lit near Bobs Park in Menzies Creek last Tuesday.
The fires were lit near the entrance between noon and 12.20pm using ignited toilet paper, posing an extreme risk to the area.
Emerald Police Station Sergeant Fiona Tolmie said the toilet paper may have been thrown from a moving car, and urged any witnesses to contact her on 5968 4422.
Quick thinking
POLICE and fire-fighters attended a grassfire on Aura Vale Road last Wednesday, which is believed to have been deliberately lit.
Police say the fire, which started at 11.20am, grew to one and a half metres in size before being extinguished by a passer-by.

Witnesses sought
A FIRE has been lit near the Cockatoo Recreation Reserve on the weekend and police believe it was deliberately lit.
The fire, which started around 1.45am on Saturday 9 March on Mountain Road in Cockatoo, was extinguished before any damage was done.
A group of teenagers were reported to be in the vicinity of the fire and police have urged any witnesses to contact Emerald Police Station on 5968 4422 or Cardinia Criminal Investigation Unit on 5945 2500.
Over exposed
POLICE have interviewed a suspect in relation to a reported indecent exposure on Thursday 7 March in Montrose.
The incident, which occurred in the parkland on the corner of Stradbroke Road and Aileen Avenue, happened at 8.30am.
A suspect man, already known to police, was apprehended on Mt Dandenong Road.

Half a tonne of trouble
POLICE are appealing for information after a ditch vibrating plate was stolen from Monbulk’s Alpine Mowers on Main Road.
The machine was stolen between 25 February and 1 March from the business after an unknown person cut through the cyclone fencing at the rear of the property.
Police believed the thief may have dragged the 500 kilogram machine through the fence.

Car gutted
POLICE have located a burnt-out blue Nissan Patrol in Treloar Reserve in Cockatoo on Tuesday 5 March and are appealing for witnesses.
The car was located at the corner of Bailey and Pakenham roads at 3am.
Police believe the car may have been used for multiple ram-raids across Pakenham, Lysterfield and Woori Yallock and a petrol drive-off through the night.
