Anderson gets top job

THE Knox Ford Raiders SEABL Women’s team will have a new head coach pacing the sidelines in 2008.
Heath Anderson, who has been one of the SEABL men’s assistants for the past two years, has been given the top job.
Anderson has been instrumental in helping improve and develop a number of junior Raiders kids alongside Damian Cotter in the past few years at the club.
An ex-player himself with the Frankston Blues, Anderson has had many years experience in the world of basketball and has built a strong reputation as an enthusiastic and dedicated coach with the Raiders.
Knox Basketball chairman, Bill Fenton, is excited about the appointment of Anderson and believes his passion for the club and his second to none enthusiasm will be a great positive for the SEABL Women.
“We have been watching his [Anderson] progress both in our junior program and as assistant to Damian over the last couple of years and to be honest he hasn’t really put a foot wrong. We spoke with Damian, Graham and other knowledgeable people within the club to seek out their thoughts on Anderson’s ability, commitment and whether he could handle such a big step, and all replied with just one word; Yes, and that was good enough for us,” said Fenton.
Anderson has been a strong contributor around the club at all levels and age groups and has the desire and work ethic to potentially help a large amount of players around the club make the transition from junior to senior representative basketball.
“Anderson’s appointment as it is with Craig’s is very much related to development and bringing on a young coach with our young players and they can all grow within the senior team environment. We have no doubts this will happen,” Fenton added.
Raider fans have a lot to look forward to with Anderson taking over the reigns and there should never be a dull moment on the sidelines in 2008. Stay tuned in the coming months of the off-season as there’ll be more announcements to come with the senior Knox Ford Raiders teams.
