Still on the track

UPDATE: BENJAMIN Lee, the young man walking across the US for charity, needs some help.

The self funded trip has seen Mr Lee spend much of his own money on food, footwear and a safe place to sleep.

But he is quickly running out of money, and would appreciate donations that could help him buy a new pair of runners or a night at a motel.

Anyone that can help is asked to go to http://www.gofundme.com/4ftwpo.

Those that want to donate to his cause are asked to visit www.oxfam.org.au/my/events/view/431 and don’t forget to like his Facebook page 10 million steps to see daily updates.

TUESDAY:
HE’S already walked half way across the USA.
But he still has an exciting and tough journey ahead of him.
Knox resident Benjamin Lee is walking across America to raise money for Oxfam, and has had some interesting updates since we first told his story.

The week started off with some stormy weather, making it a tough battle to keep walking along, but luckily for Benjamin human kindness came through and he was offered a room, free of charge, at a hotel in Clarinda as the weather cleared.
On his way to Clarinda, a construction worker chased Ben down and gave him $10 – something to keep him going.
Currently walking about 50 kilometres a day, Ben hopes to make it to New Jersey before Christmas, beating the cold weather and hopefully, snow.
Ben wants to raise $10,000 on his journey, hopefully $5000 from Australia and $5000 from America.
Why Oxfam?
Ben wanted to raise money for charity and after seeing so many impoverished children in places like South America and Africa, he wanted to be able to do something for them.
