Weeds beware

HILLS people are being urged to learn more about eradicating weeds during Weedbuster Week.
The Shire of Yarra Ranges is next week hosting activities to raise community awareness about weeds and their impact on the environment.
Mayor Tim Heenan said weeds were devastating the shire’s forests, wildlife and waterways and that the council was keen to support residents in tackling weeds.
“Weedbuster Week will provide residents with a great range of information about weeds along with the opportunity to take part in a number of activities,” he said.
Hills people will have the opportunity to find out more about weeds as a mobile trailer travels around the shire.
The trailer will have information sheets for people on the different weeds species and give tips on how to treat weeds with herbicides.
Residents can visit the trailer in Monbulk on Wednesday 10 October from 10am to 4pm in the Main Street or in the Belgrave town centre on Friday 12 October.
Weedbuster Week will finish with a weed information day on Saturday 13 October at Minak Reserve in Selby from 10am to 2pm.
