ORGANIC and biodynamic fresh produce, fruit and vegetables, dairy, dry goods and more as well as free-range poultry and meat are in great demand six days a week from the Kallista Biodynamic Market.
Father and son team, Fred and Troy Eder, run their own certified biodynamic farm and used to sell their fresh produce at farmers markets. However, due to the very high demand for produce without chemicals, they found it necessary to open a retail outlet.
The shop, opened three and a half years ago, has gone from strength to strength.
Troy said that when the business started, they stocked more ethical lines than the average organic shops and prices were kept low.
“Rather than have high prices, we have low markups and rely on high turnover of goods,” he said.
“A lot of our produce is on a par or even cheaper at times than supermarkets.
“This is mostly achieved through astute buying at the wholesale market and by buying in quantity.”
For fresh produce and more, chemical free and at the right price, call in to the Kallista Biodynamic Market at 77 Monbulk Road, Kallista.
The shop is open for business 9am -5.30pm Monday to Wednesday, 9am -6pm Thursday and Friday and 9am -2pm Saturday. Phone 9755 1111.
Fresh approach pays off all round
