WHILE Christmas is often a time of spirit and cheer, some local families are doing it tough.
And that’s why Monbulk MP James Merlino has thrown his support behind the Bridging the Gap Christmas appeal by donating a hamper to the Dandenong Ranges Emergency Relief Service.
“There are a number of things that come to mind when most people think about Christmas and the new year – family time, sunshine, the joy of giving and receiving, holidays and children’s laughter,” Mr Merlino said.
“However, not everyone is so fortunate.
“There are many people in our community that at this time, rather than feel joy, will experience loneliness, financial hardship and personal difficulties.”
Donations can be made at Dandenong Ranges Emergency Relief Service, 1632 Burwood Highway, Belgrave, from Monday to Friday, 9am to 1pm.
Items will need to be delivered by noon on Friday 6 December.
