Open plan for studios

THE Hills will come alive to the sight of pottery on 2930 October for the Dandenong Ranges Ceramics Group Open Studio Weekend.
Ten potters and sculptures from the hills will open their studios for viewing and sales, and will also discuss their work with pottery enthusiasts.
Visitors can take a journey through the hills, with open studios in Ferntree Gully, Upwey, Tecoma, Belgrave, Kallista, Sherbrooke, Sassafras, Olinda, Mt Dandenong, Kalorama and Montrose.
Kalorama artist Rodney Swart will open his studio to the public with a number of plates and pots on display.
Mr Swart set up his studio in 2001 and now produces modern, brightly coloured, decorative and functional earthenware, including his popular threespouted teapot. He uses a number of techniques when designing his ceramics, including throwing and handbuilding.
He is also known to periodically hold classes at his studio.
People interested in taking a tour of the studios should contact Ric Pomeranz on 9755 2155 for a map of the studios.
