AN UPWEY businesswoman is calling for action after a teen party led to her office window being smashed with a street sign.
Dianne McInerney of Upwey Real Estate said it was disappointing that yet another teen party had led to such destruction.
The incident happened last Monday, 21 January, shortly after 2.30am when a youth was seen using a street sign to smash the window.
An hour later another youth was seen kicking the broken window.
Property manager Alicia Smith said that she was shocked to arrive at work on Tuesday morning to find the destruction of the window.
“I was walking down the street to the office and saw the street sign on the ground and thought it was a bit strange and then I saw the damage to the front window,” she said.
After viewing the office surveillance videos, staff at Upwey Real Estate witnessed a youth breaking the window with the street sign.
They also did a bit of vigilante investigating before contacting police.
“We found out that there was a teen party down the street where the parents were away on holidays,” Ms Smith said.
Surprisingly enough it is believed the party was being held in the same street, which the street signs was stolen and used to smash the window of Upwey Real Estate.
Ms McInerney said it was disappointing that youths had smashed her window but warns that security camera footage had now been given to police.
“We are very disappointed because we support our local community and our young people as we are faced with something like this,” she said.
Belgrave Police are now investigating the incident and anyone who may have seen or heard anything are being asked to contact police on 9754 6677.
