Bus crush
AN infringement notice was issued to a tourist bus driver after one of his passengers was pinned between the bus and a parked car on Sunday.
Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the incident.
Olinda CFA captain Steve Walker said the victim, a 47-year-old man was helping direct the driver do a u-turn after the bus became stuck.
“As he reversed back, his passenger was squashed between a parked car and the side of the bus,” Capt Walker said.
“He had a sore hip and arm.”
Belgrave Sergeant Mick Hall said police were called to the incident not long before 11.30am.
Chemist cased
MOUNT EVELYN police have asked members of the public to report suspicious behaviour in the main street of the town after an attempted burglary on the local chemist last week.
Sergeant Craig Keithley said an unknown Caucasian male attempted to force entry to the chemist not long before 3.30am on Wednesday 23 July.
While he smashed a window, he didn’t enter the building.
The man was wearing a red hoodie and purple shorts.
Sgt Keithley said community members who saw suspicious behaviour at any time of the day should contact police.
Thieves take fuel, plates
FUEL and number plates have been stolen from cars throughout the Yarra Ranges.
Detective Sergeant Mark Smithwick said that car owners should keep an eye out for suspicious behaviour and where possible park their cars securely.
POLICE are investigating a burglary in Albert Hill Road in Lilydale on 24 July between 6am and 8.20pm.
A camera, camera equipment and a television was stolen.
ST MARY’S Church in Mount Evelyn was broken into over the weekend of 19 July and 22 July with heartless thieves taking a heater, floodlight, cleaning equipment and a powerboard.
SUNNY BOY icy poles and packets of chips were stolen from Upwey High School’s canteen after a break in at the school last week.
Police believe that the theft occurred at 2am on 19 July.
