KILSYTH Cobras have launched its 2008 SEABL season in style with a video presentation from its 2008 championship squad.
At a function held at Ringwood Club, on Wednesday 20 February, more than 100 people got their first glimpse of this year’s winning team.
The Cobras number one ticket holder and Sports Minister James Merlino, along with Kilsyth MP David Hodgett, Shire of Yarra Ranges Mayor Tim Heenan and councillor Len Cox welcomed the launch of yet another season.
The night began with a video portraying the culture of the Kilsyth Cobras, made by the players. The video also portrayed the family atmosphere of the club, plus its significant history and the unity held within the club.
Mayor Tim Heenan presented the 2008 SEABL lady Cobras with their singlets as coach Jason Knight spoke about the upcoming season.
“We’re not going to have the flash talents of other clubs but we’ll certainly make teams earn wins against us and we’ll get wins by working hard,” he said.
Mr Merlino then presented singlets to the men’s squad while coach Grant Wallace told the crowd of the squad’s hunger for success in 2008.
“After the conference loss last year, Jon Lee pulled the boys together and immediately after the loss on the team bench and told them to come back strong in 2008, and this is exactly what has happened,” he said.
Mr Merlino was also presented with a number one club Kilsyth Cobras jersey and said he was excited about the upcoming season.
