A REFURBISHED new patisserie with a relaxed atmosphere, Chocolate Sensations in Belgrave offers an amazing array of the highest quality taste treats, cakes, coffee and light lunches, without the high city prices.
Owners Nicole Hart and Julian Thomas have more than just chocolate on their menu; there are handmade croissants, Danishes and scrolls, gourmet chunky pies, and cakes, tarts and slices of all kinds.
Favourites include the perennial brownie, lemon tarts, hedgehog and lemon curd, accompanied by freshly roasted Fairtrade coffee from Chosen Bean.
Chocolate Sensations uses original recipes and the finest ingredients, (including real butter) with everything made from scratch on the premises.
A sandwich bar offers freshly made orders with sourdough breads and rolls available.
Wedding and birthday cakes made to order are a specialty of the house as Julian is a very accomplished chef.
A professional pastry chef for 19 years, Julian has worked overseas before returning to Sofitel and Crown Casino to work with chefs who have since become celebrities.
He has won gold and silver medals in Salon Culinaires as well as in Aussie pie and pastie competitions.
With many of their tempting products such as the roast vegie quiches, Florentines and lemon tarts, now considered among the best in the hills, Nicole and Julian are looking towards providing inviting breakfast menus and catering for local business.
Hampers for Puffing Billy customers are also planned.
The sensational Chocolate Sensations is at Shop 1, 1700 Burwood Highway, Belgrave, and is open from 6am to 5pm on weekdays and 8am to 5pm, Saturday and Sunday. Phone 9754 1174.
