THE New Horizons Concert band is looking for new members to balance its sound.
A range of instruments are on offer including flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, French horn, tuba and euphonium. A range of percussion instruments are also available.
New Horizons is a Dandenong Ranges Music Council (DRMC) initiative for the over 50s.
The band is a chance for retirees, lapsed players or people who have always wanted to learn an instrument to experience music on a different level.
Band director Brian Hogg said the program had been lots of fun.
“We have had a fantastic first get together and everyone is really keen,” he said. Classes and band rehearsals are at The Community Music Centre in the grounds of Upwey High School, 1451 Burwood Highway, Upwey, on Thursday mornings.
The cost of $27 per week includes a lesson and band rehearsal. For more information call Maggie on 9754 2105 or go along to a band rehearsal.
