Latto laps up AIS training

Up and coming Monbulk swimmer Josh Latto has returned home after attending a training camp with the AIS.Up and coming Monbulk swimmer Josh Latto has returned home after attending a training camp with the AIS.

MONBULK Aquatic Club swimmer Josh Latto recently returned from a training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS).
Latto was a member of the Metro East Development squad, a team of 30 swimmers aged 12 to 17 selected on their performances in the pool.
He had the opportunity to train at the AIS, gaining valuable knowledge about motivation, nutrition and training methods specifically for excellence in swimming. While at the AIS, Latto participated in a two-day swim meet in which he collected two medals in backstroke events.
The 15-year-old has been with the Monbulk Aquatic Club for five years, slowly working his way through the various squads.
He trains up to eight sessions a week and attributes his improvement in the sport to the new head coach Ross Price, who has coached many swimmers to Olympic level over the years.
“Ross has taught me that commitment to a sport can bring success if I am willing to do the hard work,” Latto said.
“His programs are challenging but all the swimmers at Monbulk have improved so much under his coaching.”
Price has contact with all the swimmers at the Monbulk Aquatic Club, whether they are just starting out in the sport or, like Latto, are aiming for national level. Monbulk Aquatic Club trains at the Monbulk Aquatic Centre. Anyone interested in joining the club can call Gaby Mitchell on 0407 071 013.
