FABULOUS conditions presented a wonderful opportunity for good golf at Emerald Golf Club at the weekend.
The greens were quick, the fairways clipped and some took full advantage. Thanks to Phil who has kept the greens green.
The final of the Emerald Cup was played in the 4BBB format with Graeme Lawler and Ross Martin facing off against Ian McConnell and Mark Jasper. Martin and Lawler reigned supreme to win 4 and 2.
The mere mortals played for the November Monthly Medal, with excellent scoring taking place. Keith Bailey blitzed the field to win the medal and take the C Grade prize with a nett 62 from his 24 handicap.
Rod Ward calmly took out A Grade with an accomplished 67 from his 13 handicap, while Graeme Bates chased his 19 handicap home in the blazing sunshine for 65 to win B Grade.
Graeme Haymes, playing with his early bird mate Bailey carded a 63, Ken Sumsion 65, Edin Selimivic 68, Graeme White 69 while Dave Hunt played to his handicap for 70. Nearest the pins were won by White on the 12th, Geoff Isherwood on the 13th, Mango Maguire on the 17th and Leigh Morison took out the pro pin on the 18th.
Next Saturday is the challenge some have looked forward to for some time. A three-club event is facing the golfers so choices will be ruminated over during the week.
The Club’s Pro-am is just around the corner on Saturday, 10 December. Entries have started rolling in to George at the clubhouse. The number of players is limited so my advice for those who are interested is to be early.
