A BODY located in a creek near the township on Monbulk, about 3.40pm on Monday 23 May, was confirmed to be that of missing Monbulk woman Fiona Hawker.
Ms Hawkers body was found in Emerald Creek off the Allendale Road, minutes from the centre of Monbulk.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner but the death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.
Inspector Trevor Ashton said while the outcome is tragic, the family now has closure.
“It is most unfortunate and Victoria Police would like to extend condolences to the family.”
“Our investigators are down there now and at this stage there is nothing to indicate foul play,” Insp Ashton said.
Insp Ashton said it was through the efforts off all involved in the search they were able to locate Ms Hawker’s body.
“It was a fantastic effort of all the stakeholders such as SES, CFA, and the Bushwalkers Search and Rescue Association, without their efforts this would be going on for a long time,” he said.
Police are still seeking assistance from anyone in the community who may have any information leading to discovering what happened to Ms Hawker.
“If people have any information or may be aware of what happened, please get into contact via Crimestoppers or at Monbulk Police Station,” Insp Ashton said.
“We still need the community’s help to understand what happened.”
Investigators thanked all those who helped with the search.
