AN EXHIBITION based on the ancient Chinese art of ink painting is on now at Burrinja Cultural Centre’s Jarmbi Gallery.
The Chan Academy Australia exhibition The Four Seasons, The Four Friends features Chan works inspired by natural surroundings and the change of seasons.
The display includes several works by Melba Nielsen who has painted in the Chan style for the past 30 years.
Nielsen teaches a class on the unique art form, The Way of the Brush, at the Upwey-based Chan Academy and a number of her students’ exhibits are on display.
Shire of Yarra Ranges mayor Tim Heenan officially opened the exhibition on Sunday.
The Chan Academy is run from the Buddhist Discussion Centre located at 33 Brooking Street, Upwey.
The Four Seasons, the Four Friends is on at Jarmbi Gallery at Burrinja, 351 Glenfern Road, Upwey until 24 August.
