BOX Hill Institute’s Lilydale Lakeside Campus will have access to guaranteed funding to secure its students’ future, according to Monbulk MP, James Merlino.
When announcing Victorian Government changes to TAFE in the state, the Education Minister said the ‘Skills First’ initiative would ensure quality training for the region so workers of the future will have valued skills.
‘Skills First’ features a more focused training system, with $114 million in additional funding on offer for Victoria’s TAFEs.
Each year, Victoria’s training providers will have access to three targeted funding streams from the start of next year, including the $40 million Workforce Training Innovation Fund which aims to promote innovative training and skills in emerging and priority industries.
Mr Merlino said the change would have direct benefits for the region.
“This new model will help secure the future of training and TAFE in the outer east,” he said.
“It will mean a strong and stable TAFE in Lilydale, and will mean students in the area can be confident that they are getting real training for real jobs.”
