School makes a fine drop

MOUNT Lilydale Mercy College is proud to have launched the release of its 2015 Mount Lilydale Mercy College McAuley Park Cabernet.
To help mark the occasion, Secretary for Tourism, Major Events and Regional Victoria, Danielle Green, visited the school to celebrate the launch on 14 October.
In 2000, eight rows of Cabernet Sauvignon were planted, with as many as 300 bottles being produced each year.
In 2015, the first wine, the 2014 vintage, was sold to the public at a successful launch.
This was held in conjunction with Tourism Network Yarra Valley, who sponsored a scholarship at the school.
The 2014 win won bronze at the Eltham Amateur Wine Show, with the school involvement in the project continuing gto grow.
This year, 40 Year 10 and 11 students have been involved in the growing, harvesting and production of the wine.
Tourism Network Yarra Valley again has sponsored this event and Secretary Mary Wiking presented the school with a $1000 cheque, which will assist one or more students to achieve their goals in tourism.
