THE second round of the Emerald Golf Club championship was staged in great conditions last Saturday but scoring well was a difficult task for most.
The course rating was set at 70 and Edin Selimovic (3) was the star of the day with a one under par round of 69 to win the day and is leading in the A Grade championship.
Steve Town (19) headed up the B Grade crowd with his nett 71 while John McNamara (25) visiting from Garfield took out C Grade with 72.
Peter Stevens (10) was, apart from Selimovic, the only other player to beat his handicap when he came in with a nett 67.
Steven Maguire was nearest the pin on the fourth, Ken Sumsion the seventh, Ross Martin the 12th, Brian McCoy the 13th and Peter Stevens scooped the pool by taking the pro pin on the 18th.
Wednesday’s Obviously Fractured Golf (OFG) was a skins affair with no clear winners except Kevin Miller, who came in with his pockets bulging with coins.
Next week is the last round of the championship and it appears the A Grade will be won by either Selimovic on 140 or Maguire on 147.
B Grade is a battle between Ken Hill on 179 and is being chased home by both Graeme White and Leigh Morison, who both sit one shot back on 180.
Con Whitlock leads C Grade with 200 and has a nine-stroke lead from Anthony Smith and Jeff Marsh who both have 209.
