The Basin Primary School students will soon have access to the first-rate classrooms and facilities they deserve, with works beginning on a multi-million dollar project.
Education Minister James Merlino on Monday 11 September turned the first sod on the $5.2 million stage one of the project to provide the school with new classrooms, physical education and administration facilities.
Construction of the new buildings is expected to be completed in the second half of next year and is part of a $2.5 billion Victorian Government investment in education infrastructure over the past three budgets.
Mr Merlino said the Victorian Government was aiming to ensure every student could access a great local school and receive a top education.
“We’re building and modernising schools to create learning environments for the 21st century,” he said.
“Every local community should have state-of-the-art facilities to ensure our students are prepared for the jobs of the future.”
Meanwhile, a further $2 million has been allocated to relocate The Basin Community House from its present site onto the school grounds, with completion also set for the second half of next year.
The Basin Community House is a not-for-profit organisation, providing a diverse range of services to the community, including adult education, recreational courses and community support groups.
