A P-plater was “lucky to be alive” said Emerald Acting Sergeant Marcus Coolen, following a serious crash this morning on Macclesfield Road.
About 6.30am a local Macclesfield male, lost control of his Toyota Hilux along Macclesfield Road before sliding down an embankment and colliding with a tree.
The driver was travelling towards Emerald, and police believe wet driving conditions may have been a factor in the resulting crash.
Macclesfield road was closed from Avon Road for two hours, with emergency services crews working to free the man from the wreckage.
“The driver was quite firmly trapped, and had to take the roof off … took quite some time,” Macclesfield CFA captain Sharon Merritt said.
Ambulance Victoria reported the teenage male was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with no significant injuries.
