FREE trees are up for grabs in the Shire of Yarra Ranges Ribbons of Green program.
Yarra Ranges residents with more than two hectares of land are encouraged to take part in the scheme to offset carbon emissions and enhance local wildlife habitat.
Shire project officer David Blair said plant orders would be taken until 30 November.
“The free plants are not intended to be used as landscaping around buildings but rather to be planted in the most ecologically beneficial locations of the shire,” he said.
Planting will begin in May next year.
Anyone interested in free trees can send an email to d.blair@yarra ranges.vic.gov.au or call Mr Blair on 9294 6298.
