The under 15/2A XI fought back late against JPCC/Mountain Gate to set up an intriguing battle for the six points this Saturday.
James Lester (20) and Dan Watson (16) were best in a total of 97 that simply didn’t look enough. However, two early wickets had the visitors at 2/18 at the close of play.
Ferntree Gully got away to a flyer against the under 15/2B XI and looked set to set rack up a huge target by the drinks break.
To their credit the Tigers applied the brakes, eventually dismissing their hosts for 202. Jordan Tailby (3/22) continued his fine early season form for the under 13/1 XI in Eildon Park’s total of 226.
In a high quality match, both sides will be confident of posting a win on day 2.
Mulgrave took full advantage of an under 17 XI side that is struggling to concentrate on the basics of the game.
With Jake Lynch (3/38) again leading the way, support was patchy at best and a total of 271 is required to get their season back on track.
