Aches relieved, disorders resolved

KATHARINE Forrer of Katharine Forrer Bowen and Pilates in Monbulk offers gentle and safe treatment for all ages.
Katharine’s passion for helping people began with her own first experience with Bowen therapy in 1981.
Attending her regular naturopath/osteopath for treatment, Katharine was both amazed and delighted by the extremely gentle and totally pain-free manipulation which she said resolved her back pain instantly.
After pursuing a teaching career, Katharine then trained as a Bowen therapist to Therapist level, eventually combining both career streams.
Katharine commenced lecturing in Bowen for several institutes including Swinburne and The Southern School of Natural Therapies. She also taught Pilates for the YMCA and continues to use pilates methods to “maintain” treatments for her clients and reduce the number of treatments required.
Over the years, this committed practitioner has had some exciting results in resolving bladder incontinence issues, sciatica, wry neck, bruxism (teeth grinding) and mastitis with very few treatments.
Belgrave mother, Anita who had been in agony with a swollen breast after the birth of her child, felt relief almost immediately after Katharine’s treatment.
“I was very thankful for her knowledge and treatment of my condition,” said Anita.
Katharine has also successfully treated Mount Dandenong resident, Amanda who previously had severe and ongoing mastitis while endeavouring to breast feed.
“Never did I imagine that Bowen could be employed to ease the pain of sore breasts,” she said.
“The ten minutes that Katharine spent with me changed my breast feeding experience forever.
“Not only did I enjoy immediate relief, but the problem returned only once and I was able to use the moves that Katharine had shown me to stave it off myself.”
Relief has also been given to patients during pregnancy for lower and upper back pain, hip and buttock pain, sciatic and referred leg pain, oedema and other related conditions.
Katharine is now a “preferred practitioner” with the John Coleman program for people with neurological disorders and is having positive results with chronic fatigue, dementia and other neurological disorders.
“Clients can often discover dual benefits from treatments,” she said.
“Asthma, constipation or tinnitus may reduce or resolve as a positive “side effect” of a treatment originally aimed at lower back or neck pain.
“I have enjoyed helping many people with this pain-free technique and I continue to enjoy demonstrating the method to a variety of interested groups, consultants and other health professionals.”
Katharine Forrer Bowen and Pilates practice is based at 5 Mt Pleasant Road, Monbulk in the Allied Health Professionals rooms next to Monbulk Family Clinic.
