Left: Artists Jerry Osadczuk and Jenny Davis, with some of their work.By Monique Ebrington
GARBAGE scraps from Spain, bitumen and overseas inspirations are just some of the elements to Jenny Davis and Jerry Osadczuk’s art exhibition Oz and Strazz.
Jenny and Jerry’s parallels in their lives, including a talent for contemporary art, a shared group of friends and mused travel experiences, makes the Oz and Strazz exhibition dynamic.
The similarity of their lives and art is reflected in their choice for Jenny to have the left side and Jerry the opposite of the gallery at the Upper Yarra Arts Centre — looking towards each other like mirrored images.
Both artists hope that visitors to the exhibition think if it as the one rather then the presentation of two separate artists, Jerry Osadczuk said.
“We think in a very similar way. We like each other’s work. It’s a bit like looking at your own stuff,” he said.
Together their exhibition is both contemporary and thought provoking as visitors will be compelled to pause at work not only for its visual aesthetic but also to reflect on the meanings behind them. The Oz and Strazz art exhibition opening will be at the Upper Yarra Arts Centre on Saturday 22 November from 1pm to 3pm.
The exhibition will run from 22 November to 11 December. The gallery’s opening hours are 9.30am to 4.30pm Tuesday to Friday, and 11am to 4pm on Saturday.
