Neighbourhood Watch celebrates 15 years

Mount Evelyn Neighbourhood Watch notched up 15 years of keeping an eye on the community.

About 20 people, including members and police, celebrated the anniversary at the Mount Evelyn RSL on Monday 13 August.

Yarra Ranges Mayor Len Cox presented certificates of appreciation to members who had given 10 years and 15 years or more of exceptional service.

Mount Evelyn Neighbourhood Watch chairman Geoff Welsh said it was an excellent day for all.

The group works with local police to create a safer and more secure community.

Volunteer walkers distribute quarterly newsletters with information on home and personal safety and crime statistics to 4200 homes in Mount Evelyn.

“I love being associated with Neighbourhood Watch because Mount Evelyn is a very robust community itself,” Mr Welsh said.

“Being with Neighbourhood Watch is also great because they provide residents with various community activities.”
