Doors open to $6m kinder

Lilydale’s littlest residents can enjoy new kinder and childcare rooms, a toy library and children’s garden at the new Lilydale Lakeside Children’s Centre.

Early Childhood Education Minister Jenny Mikakos visited Box Hill Institute in Lilydale on Tuesday 25 September to officially open the $6.6 million facility.

It will cater for 50 kinder and 76 childcare places as well as provide families access to maternal and child health services, community playgroups and other family services.

The kinder service brings science, technology, engineering and mathematics into play and activities, and has an early childhood educator who speaks in Mandarin.

The State Government contributed $6.1 million towards the centre.
