THE December monthly medal was there for the taking on Saturday at Emerald Golf Club, and that is exactly what Wayne Degering did.
Using his 24 handicap, Degering returned an impressive nett score of 57 to leave all in his wake.
Winners of monthly medals during the year were also competing for the Star Medal. Con Whitlock (27) was first with a 65, from Graeme Fergus (18) on 66.
Dennis Fuller (11) led the A Graders with a nett 64 while Peter Clowes continued his fine form to head up the B Graders with 65.
Ken Sumsion (25) came in with 66, and Dave Hunt (13) had 67.
Nearest the pins went to Dave Thomas (4th), Peter Stevens (7th), Paul Farmer (12th) and Ross Martin (13th), and Brian McCoy won the pro pin on the 18th.
John Carvill celebrated his first handicap round by being nearest after two shots on the 17th, and Martin won on the 10th.
Wednesday’s Ornamentally Fabricated Golf (OFG) resulted in an easy win for Clowes.
As there was coring taking place, the back nine was played twice and players were given the option of deleting the score on any hole from their tally. Clowes came in with a nett 50 from Andy Smith on 59.
Next Saturday, players will compete in a nice, gentle stableford event in preparation for Christmas.
Any golfer who would like a game of OFG on Christmas Eve should attend the clubhouse at about 8am. All players are welcome.
