LABOR Silvan Province MP Carolyn Hirsh said she was pleased to be accepted back into the fold of the party after spending the past 12 months as an independent.
However Liberal Silvan Province MP Andrew Olexander has lashed out at his Liberal Party slamming its members as homophobic.
Carolyn Hirsh was dumped by the Labor Party after a drink driving incident last year, and said at the time she was very depressed.
Ms Hirsh said she found it very difficult after being in the Labor Party for 35 years to be out on her own as an independent.
She said she was very pleased to be back in the party as being an independent was very isolating.
“I will now keep doing what I have always been doing – representing my constituents, but being back in the Labor Party means I will have more access to legislation making things easier,” she said.
Meanwhile, Liberal Silvan Province MP Andrew Olexander has lashed out at his party calling them homophobic in a metropolitan newspaper on Sunday.
This comes after Mr Olexander was defeated last weekend in the preselection ballot for next year’s election.
Mr Olexander did not repond to the Mail’s request for an interview.
