GREY skies and cool temperatures didn’t stop thousands from flocking to the Knox Festival last weekend.
Rides, food, fun and games brought smiles to the faces of young and old at Ferntree Gully Recreation Reserve. One festival-goer, eight-year-old Erynn, needed a reason to smile more than most.
The Flowerdale resident lost her home in the Black Saturday blazes.
“We just wanted a fun day away from Flowerdale,” family friend Odette said.
Hundreds lined Ferntree Gully’s streets on Saturday night to salute CFA volunteers marching in the Knox Fire Brigades Group torchlight parade.
Knox Council donated all festival gate takings to the bushfire appeal.
