ON everybody’s must-visit list is one of Victoria’s most fascinating tourist attractions – PowerWorks in the Latrobe Valley.
Victoria’s vast brown coal mines and power stations that comprise the Latrobe Valley complex are responsible for generating 85 per cent of the state’s electricity.
Visitors need to allow about two hours, which includes a tour of the mine and a power station at either Hazelwood, Yallourn or Loy Yang.
They can also browse around the museum that features an extensive photographic display, recording the history of the power industry, or wander between exhibits including a range of hands-on interactive displays.
Coach parties and schools are welcome, however bookings are recommended.
For bookings, phone 5135 3415 or check out the website www.powerworks.com.au
