Appeal for lost guitars

A LOCAL band is appealing for community assistance to help locate two electric guitars which were stolen from them after a gig in Mooroolbark in August.
Band members from The Saracasanovas, who come from Yarra Glen, Montrose, Kilsyth and Mitcham, said they were bitterly disappointed when they returned to the storage dock after their show to find the guitars were gone.
Luke Semore, who owned the two guitars, said the band members were loading their car after the gig when the guitars went missing.
“They had a lot of sentimental value for me,” Luke said.
“One was the first guitar I learned to play on and the other was given to me on my 18th birthday.”
He said that while there was other equipment that would have been more expensive than his two guitars, they were the only thing that was stolen. “At the moment, I’m borrowing guitars from mates,” he said.
“But at this stage we’re looking like we are going to have to get new ones.”
He said the band had thought about playing a show to raise the money, but nothing was set in concrete.
“I’m just really hoping that we’ll get them back,” he said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. The Saracasanovas will continue to play without the two guitars.
Their next gig is at Ruby’s Lounge in Belgrave on 24 September.
