MONBULK Secondary College held its inaugural Battle of the Bands recently with a number of acts showing off their musical talents.
Nine bands entered the competition performing cover songs and originals for a panel of three judges.
Students from years seven to 12 entered the competition and received comments from the judging panel.
One of the year eight acts Billy and Co had to perform without the ‘Co’ because everyone except Billy had stage fright.
The winning band, which doesn’t have a name, performed the cover song titled Fortunate Son and had the audience begging for more.
Year 11 student and the winning band’s lead vocalist, Bree Tucker, lit up the stage with Dave Rockett on lead guitar, Jeremy Lovie on rhythm guitar, Julian Lucas played the bass and Andrew Atwood kept it together on the drums.
Bree said the competition was a great success for the school, and it was great to have a new music activity where the school bands could showcase their talent.
