Emerald’s Pro-Am

By Dennis Fuller
PREPARATIONS are right on track for a very successful Malaysian Airlines Pro-am at Emerald Golf Club. Along with airlines major sponsors, Leaf Busters and Fujifilm have ensured that no corners have been cut for a big day next Saturday, 10 December.
President Brian Crawford said that it will be a great day to come to the course to see how good golfers, and the other kind, do their stuff. Plenty of parking space is available.
On the domestic front a big field rolled up for the December monthly medal in conditions that were great apart from the rolling mist on occasions.
Steven F. Miller proved that lopping strokes off his handicap is no impediment to winning by carding a nett 65 off his 20 handicap. This gave him the overall medal gong and B Grade as well.
Ross Martin, on the back of his hole in one on the 12th, finished with nett 69 playing off 12, to be the master of all other A graders. Les Hill blitzed the C Grade field with a nett 76 off 25.
Of the others, Ricky Causer and Graeme Bates both carded 68 while Dennis Fuller, David Hunt and Greg Horrocks managed 73.
Nearest the pins was Martin on the 12th. An ace on a hole usually wins that award! Hunt took the loot to win the pro pin on the 18th.
