ONE Belgrave Heights man is dead and another remains in hospital following a car crash in Belgrave last Wednesday.
Police said the 28-year-olds were travelling north along Belgrave-Hallam Road about 10.45pm on 3 February when the driver lost control and hit a steep embankment.
The driver was dead when ambulance crews arrived. The impact threw his passenger from the car.
Intensive care paramedic Amanda Kaighin said the passenger suffered serious abdominal injuries and extensive bruising.
“He had a fractured arm and possibly his pelvis,” she said.
Ms Kaighin said paramedics were also concerned he may have injured his spine “given the force of the impact”.
He was taken by air ambulance to The Alfred hospital in a serious condition. He is now listed as satisfactory.
Police believe neither man was wearing a seatbelt and are investigating whether speed may have been a factor in the incident. They will prepare a report for the Coroner.
